Michael Barnett is a double graduate in Music from Glasgow University. Since then, he has worked predominantly in the field of Dance, and for a decade was based at the Dance School of Scotland, latterly as Musical Associate. He has worked for many other dance companies and education units, including those of Scottish Ballet and Opera, Northern Ballet Theatre, Rambert Dance Company, the Mark Morris Dance Group, the Royal Academy of Dance and Ballet West.
Michael is also a very experienced concert performer and MD, equally at home in the 'pit' orchestra as the stage. Recent engagements include playing on the UK tour of Chicago, and with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Glasgow. He has a wealth of experience of Scottish music and has worked with many well-known figures in Scottish entertainment, including Jack Milroy, Peter Morrison and Jimmy Macgregor. Michael has enjoyed writing and arranging a wide range of Scottish music, from Mungomania (chor. Moss), a music theatre work based upon the plainchant of St. Kentigern, to a modern ballet - 5 Burns Songs (chor. Hindle)
He is delighted to be 'manning the keys' and writing the arrangements for Caledon, the greatest team of musicians in Scotland today.
